All students referred to NHESC are referred for the same reason; they were unable to access education in their mainstream school or their specialist SEN school. All the students at NHESC were at serious risk of permanent exclusion in their previous school. Whilst the majority of our students do not have an EHCP, they do all have special educational needs. They all have had ‘….significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of their mainstream peers…’
At NHESC we operate a 3 wave system.
Wave 1 where our outstanding practice is able to meet the needs of most students.
Wave 2 where additional interventions are put in place to address any additional needs of individual students.
Wave 3 where the student is on a bespoke programme in order to meet their complex needs.
