Primary Referral Process
Referrals to NHPSS
Where a school feels they need support, a referral needs to be made using the North Herts Support Service Referral Assessment Data Sheet.
The completed North Herts Support Service Referral Assessment Data Sheet then needs to be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org where the NHPSS Manager will check if the referral meets the High Needs criteria for support, feeding back to the referrer within 2 school weeks.
Where the referral meets criteria the referring school will then need to ensure that they complete the most recent version of the Service Request form (available from The Grid) and gain the parental consent signature. This completed form will need to be sent to the NHPSS via one of the NHPSS staff members or the Orange Bag (School Number 666). An observation and meeting will then be arranged to agree the terms of support for the child.
Where the referral does not meet High Needs criteria a meeting will be arranged for either the NHPSS Manager, Primary Coordinator or the Senior Support Worker to provide advice and strategies to support the school to manage the referred pupil's behaviour.
Assistance may be given to write PSPs, reports for ENF, CDC, CDAC, EHCPs and CAMHS; NHPSS staff members will attend meetings for the above where appropriate.
Where there is a disagreement between the school and the service about the appropriate level or type of support provided there should be open discussion between all individuals concerned to try to resolve it.
