Students across both sites have the opportunity during Year 10 to work towards achieving an Arts Award.
These range from ‘Explore’ (Entry level 3) where students are requires to complete 4 parts to achieve their qualification; take part in the arts, explore an artist or art organisation, create an artwork and present their exploration.
Bronze (Level 1) carries 6 QCF credits and requires students to; take part in the arts, review an arts event, research an artist or crafts person and pass on their arts skills to others.
Silver (Level 2) carries 10 QCF credits and requires students to complete an arts challenge, review an arts event, research art careers and plan, deliver and review a leadership project.
Each student chooses their own starting point; these are diverse and based on the interests and pursuits of the individual. Each student works from personalised schemes of work based on discussion with their tutor.
Areas of interest so far have included clay work, decoupage, puppetry, video, written word, rap, music, cake decoration, and much more.
